Welcome to Soul Place

A place to breathe, reflect, reconnect and discover a spirituality that works for you.

Hello, I’m Joe, and welcome to Soul Place.

If you’ve come here because you’re looking for someone to conduct a funeral or celebration of life, you’ll find everything you need on the Funerals page.

But Soul Place is also about something wider.

I believe there is a deep human need for space – space to slow down, to pay attention, to reconnect with ourselves, with others, with nature, and with the mystery and wonder of being alive.

I’m an ordained Baptist minister, but my own spiritual journey has taken me well beyond the boundaries of traditional or institutional religion. Today, I’m passionate about championing non-religious spirituality: spirituality without pressure, dogma or the need to believe the “right” things.

Soul Place is for people who sense there might be something more to life, but who may no longer feel at home in conventional religion – as well as those who simply want to live with greater peace, depth, wonder and connection.

Through Soul Place I offer retreat days for individuals and groups, creating time away from the noise and demands of everyday life to reflect on where you are and what matters now.

I also lead Birdwatching & Spirituality Days, combining my love of birds and the natural world with stillness, attentiveness and reflection. You don’t need to be religious – or even an experienced birdwatcher. You just need to be curious and willing to notice. I also offer ‘Wild Awake Days’ enabling us to walk mindfully in nature and listen to the world around us and within us.

And for those living with bereavement and loss, I offer Grief Walks. These are not traditional grief counselling sessions. Instead, we walk together, usually somewhere beautiful, allowing conversation, silence and the natural world to create space for whatever needs to emerge.

There are no easy answers here. No pressure to believe. No spiritual hoops to jump through.

Just space to breathe, to talk, to wonder, to notice – and perhaps to rediscover something sacred in the midst of ordinary life.

Welcome to Soul Place.
